Inside “Into My Heart”

There are moments when something inside us begins to open before we have the words to explain it.

The official video for “Into My Heart” brings that feeling to life through two contrasting visual worlds: an intimate black space illuminated by blue light, and the expansive freedom of movement along the California coast.

Inside the darkened room, the world feels contained and internal. Sarah Marie Picard moves alone within the space, allowing the body to carry what words cannot. Outside, everything opens. Against the cliffs, ocean, wind, and sky, the movement becomes freer and more expansive—a release into something larger.

That contrast became central to the visual language of “Into My Heart”: interior and exterior, containment and freedom, darkness and light.

For Marie Alexander, the film was another step toward understanding how the world around a song could become part of its emotional language. Rather than illustrating the lyrics literally, movement and environment create space for the audience to experience the song through feeling.

Created by Sarah Marie Picard and Noah Alexander, “Into My Heart” reflects an idea that continues to shape Marie Alexander: music doesn’t always have to explain the story. Sometimes the body, an image, or a landscape can say what the words leave open.
