“already broken” — Out Now

Sometimes the hardest part isn’t breaking. It’s realizing it already happened.

“already broken,” the newest release from Marie Alexander, is out now on all major streaming platforms alongside its original narrative dance film.

Written by Sarah Marie Picard and Noah Alexander and recorded at Parsonics Studio in Santa Barbara, the song lives in the moment when clarity finally outweighs hope—the realization that we can spend so much time trying to save something that we don’t recognize how much of ourselves we’ve lost in the process.

Rather than ending with the music, Sarah and Noah wanted the emotional world of “already broken” to keep expanding.

Marie Alexander partnered with choreographer Holden Maples to develop an original narrative dance film built around the song. Through movement, six dancers move in and out of Sarah’s world, embodying the patterns, relationships, memories, and emotional weight that can keep us connected to something long after it has stopped serving us.

Created alongside an incredible team of dancers and filmmakers and shot in Los Angeles, the film represents one of Marie Alexander’s most ambitious projects yet—bringing music, movement, and cinema together as different parts of the same story.

This project has lived in our hearts for months.
